Cedar Park - Leander
In 2007, Cedar Park, a city just northwest of Austin, was named "one of the top 10 cities to raise a family" by Family Circle magazine. Cedar Park is close to Lake Travis and the Volente Beach Waterpark, plenty of shopping, and good schools. Homes in Cedar Park are typically in the same price range as Round Rock (west) and are slightly more expensive than in Leander, just to the north. These days, Cedar Park is diversifying and expanding its tax base, and creating new retail employment opportunities by attracting electronics, software and biotechnology companies (read more). Leander is home to about 20,000 people, and is growing rapidly. The new MetroRail will end in Leander, go through Cedar Park and have several stops in downtown Austin. Developments are being planned and built near the rail stations as well as further out where you can have acreage if you want it.
Cedar Park neighborhoods:
Bella Vista - higher end homes, a few have distant views of lake
Buttercup Creek - large neighborhood with several sections and more than one park and pool
Twin Creeks - golf course community
Forest Oaks - one section is a new community of DR Horton homes, one of few neighborhoods w/alleys and no front facing garages. Another section of Forest Oaks has larger homes near the elementary school
Anderson Mill West - closer in to Austin, affordable homes built in the 1980's.
Avery Ranch - part of this large master-planned community is in Round Rock, and part is in Cedar Park (to the west of Parmer Ln. is Cedar Park).
Shenandoah - some of the least expensive homes in Cedar Park, built primarily in the 1980's.
